 📖 Exodus 31: Crafted by God: Empowered for His Glory

“God equips, empowers, and sets apart His people for holy work and rest.”

Aim:
To reflect on how God calls, equips, and sets apart individuals for His work, and to understand the importance of rest and obedience in our relationship with Him.

God’s Attributes:

  • Empowering: God fills with His Spirit those He appoints.

  • Orderly: He gives specific instructions and timelines.

  • Holy: He sanctifies both work and Sabbath.

  • Covenant-Keeping: He emphasizes His eternal covenant with Israel.

Facts:

  • God appoints Bezalel and Oholiab to oversee the building of the Tabernacle.

  • They are filled with the Spirit of God in wisdom, understanding, and skill.

  • The Sabbath is reaffirmed as a sign of the covenant between God and Israel.

  • God gives Moses the two tablets of the Testimony, written by His own hand.

Three Ps:

  • People: Bezalel, Oholiab, and skilled artisans.

  • Presence: God’s Spirit empowers their work.

  • Purpose: To build a sanctuary that honors God’s holiness and to honor the Sabbath.

Insights:

  • God never calls without equipping. The Spirit empowers us beyond our natural abilities.

  • The Sabbath is not merely rest; it is sacred time with God.

  • Obedience includes both serving God and resting in Him.

  • Holy work requires divine enablement, not just human skill.

Application:

  • Ask God to fill you with His Spirit for the work He has assigned to you.

  • Set aside time for Sabbath rest and renewal.

  • Honor both sacred work and sacred rest as acts of worship.

Deed:
Commit to recognizing and supporting those gifted by God in your community or church, and intentionally plan a regular Sabbath practice in your week.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for calling and equipping me for Your purposes. Fill me with Your Spirit to serve with excellence, and teach me to rest in Your presence. May my work and rest glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
