📖 Exodus 24: Covenant Confirmed: A Sacred Meeting with God

"Where blood seals the promise and God meets with man."

🎯 Aim:

To reflect on the solemn confirmation of the covenant between God and Israel, and to understand the weight of God's holiness, mercy, and desire for relationship.

🕊️ God’s Attributes in Exodus 24:

  • Covenant-Keeper – God confirms His promises with blood and words.

  • Relational – He calls Moses and Israel’s leaders closer to Himself.

  • Holy – His presence is awesome and not to be approached lightly.

  • Revealer – He shows Himself in glory and gives His Word.

📘 Facts:

  • Moses reads the Book of the Covenant to the people.

  • Blood is sprinkled on the altar and on the people to seal the covenant.

  • Seventy elders of Israel ascend and see God.

  • Moses remains on the mountain 40 days and nights to receive the law and commandments.

🔎 Three Ps:

  • Promise: God promises to be Israel’s God and lead them as His people.

  • Principle: Obedience to God's Word is central to the covenant.

  • Prophecy: This foreshadows Christ, the mediator of a better covenant through His blood.

💡 Insights:

  • The covenant required sacrifice, symbolizing the seriousness of relationship with God.

  • Even leaders must approach God with reverence and only by invitation.

  • God’s presence is both terrifying and beautiful—His glory appears as consuming fire.

🪴 Application:

  • Approach your relationship with God with reverence and commitment.

  • Obey His Word not out of duty but out of love for the covenant He made with you through Christ.

  • Seek deeper fellowship with God, just like Moses stayed longer on the mountain.

🤲 Deed:

Make a personal covenant renewal—write down your commitment to obey God’s Word and reflect on the cost of Christ’s blood.

Lord God, thank You for calling me into covenant with You through Jesus. Help me to live a life of obedience, awe, and love. Let Your glory dwell in me as I stay near You. Amen.
