Exodus 8: The Battle Intensifies: God's Power Over Egypt

"When God speaks, creation responds"

Aim:

To see how God demonstrates His unmatched power over creation and human rebellion, and to trust His authority over every situation.

God’s Attributes:

  • Sovereign Power – God controls nature to fulfill His purposes.

  • Patience – He gives Pharaoh multiple opportunities to repent.

  • Justice – God brings judgment on persistent disobedience.

Facts:

  • God sends plagues of frogs, gnats, and flies to Egypt.

  • Pharaoh’s magicians replicate some signs but cannot reverse them.

  • Pharaoh shows temporary repentance but hardens his heart again.

  • God distinguishes between the Egyptians and His people.

Three Ps in Exodus 8:

  • Promises: God promises to set His people free if Pharaoh obeys.

  • Principles: Persistent rebellion leads to greater judgment.

  • Prophecies: Each plague fulfills God's spoken warnings to Pharaoh.

Insights:

  • God's warnings are opportunities for mercy before judgment falls.

  • Superficial repentance (changing words but not heart) does not bring deliverance.

  • God is able to protect His people even when judgment falls around them.

Application:

  • Respond to God's call with true repentance, not just temporary regret.

  • Recognize the difference between God's patience and His final judgment.

  • Trust God's protection even when surrounded by trials.

Take time today to examine your heart. Where have you hardened yourself against God's promptings? Choose to yield to Him fully.

Prayer:

Lord, You are powerful and patient. Teach me to respond quickly to Your voice. Help me not to harden my heart but to walk in obedience and trust Your mighty hand. In Jesus' name, Amen.
