 Exodus 7 : Signs of Power: God’s Authority Over Egypt

"God displays His unmatched power to rescue His people."

Aim:

To understand that God’s power is supreme over every earthly force and that He calls us to trust Him even when facing resistance.

God’s Attributes:

  • Sovereignty – God controls kings and nations.

  • Patience – He gives opportunities for repentance.

  • Might – His miracles declare His greatness.

Facts:

  • God commands Moses and Aaron to confront Pharaoh.

  • Aaron’s staff turns into a serpent, swallowing the magicians’ staffs.

  • Pharaoh’s heart is hardened, and the first plague (turning the Nile into blood) is unleashed.

Three Ps in Exodus 7:

  • Promise – God promises to bring His people out of Egypt with mighty acts.

  • Principle – Obedience in God's mission often meets resistance, but His will prevails.

  • Prophecy – God foretells that Pharaoh will harden his heart, but His power will be revealed through it.

Insights:

  • Even in resistance, God's purposes are advancing.

  • Human power cannot stand against divine authority.

  • God works through faithful obedience, not immediate results.

Application:

  • Stand firm in obedience to God even when opposition arises.

  • Trust in His ultimate victory, not just in immediate outcomes.

  • Remember that delays and difficulties do not cancel God’s promises.

Deed:

Reflect on one area where you’re facing resistance. Surrender it to God in prayer today and choose to trust His timing and victory.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, You are sovereign and mighty. Strengthen me to stand firm in obedience even when the journey is hard. Remind me that Your power overcomes every obstacle. I trust You to finish what You have started. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
