Exodus 2: Rescued for a Purpose: The Birth of a Deliverer
"God prepares deliverance long before we see it."
Aim:
To reflect on God’s providence, timing, and how He raises deliverers even in the darkest seasons.
God’s Attributes:
-
Providence – God orchestrates events to protect Moses.
-
Faithfulness – He remembers His covenant with Israel.
-
Compassion – He sees the suffering of His people.
Facts:
-
Moses is born during a time of oppression in Egypt.
-
His mother hides him and places him in a basket on the Nile.
-
Pharaoh’s daughter finds him and raises him as her son.
-
Moses later kills an Egyptian and flees to Midian.
-
God hears the cries of His people and remembers His covenant.
Three Ps:
-
Promises: God’s promise to Abraham (Genesis 15) is still active—He will bring His people out of Egypt.
-
Principles: God uses ordinary people and circumstances for extraordinary purposes.
-
Prophecies: The events of Moses' life begin to align with the divine plan of deliverance.
Insights:
-
God’s purposes are at work even when He seems silent.
-
Deliverance often begins in secret, small steps.
-
God's preparation for a calling may involve seasons of waiting or exile.
Application:
-
Trust God’s timing even when you don’t understand the process.
-
See your current season as preparation for a greater calling.
-
Be sensitive to God's leading in how to care for others around you.
Deed:
Take time to pray over someone in a difficult season—especially someone who may feel "forgotten." Encourage them with a word, a call, or a Scripture.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You are always at work, even in hidden places. Help me to trust in Your timing and submit to Your purpose. Use my life as a vessel of hope, just as You used Moses. Amen.
