Genesis 24: A Divine Appointment: Rebekah and God’s Faithful Guidance

Trusting God’s Leading in Life’s Big Decisions

Aim:

To understand how God’s guidance, faithfulness, and providence are at work in our lives, especially in important decisions.

God’s Attributes in Genesis 24

  1. Faithful – God fulfills His promises to Abraham (Genesis 24:7).
  2. Sovereign – He orchestrates events perfectly, leading Abraham’s servant to Rebekah.
  3. Loving – His plan ensures both Isaac and Rebekah are blessed.
  4. Provider – He answers prayer and provides the right spouse for Isaac.

Facts About Genesis 24:

  1. Abraham sends his servant to find a wife for Isaac from his homeland (v. 1-9).
  2. The servant prays for God’s guidance, asking for a clear sign (v. 12-14).
  3. Rebekah fulfills the sign by offering water to both the servant and his camels (v. 15-21).
  4. The servant acknowledges God’s hand and worships Him (v. 26-27).
  5. Rebekah willingly follows the servant to marry Isaac (v. 57-61).
