Gen3: The Fall – Sin Enters the World
πΏ Genesis 3: The Fall – Sin Enters the World πΏ
"Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked." – Genesis 3:7
Aim
To understand the origin of sin, its consequences, and God’s promise of redemption. Genesis 3 shows humanity’s fall through disobedience but also reveals God’s mercy in His plan to restore us.
God’s Attributes in Genesis 3
- Sovereign – God is in control and just in His judgments.
- Holy – Sin cannot exist in His presence.
- Just – He holds humanity accountable for sin.
- Merciful – Even in judgment, He provides a covering and a promise of redemption.
- Faithful – He promises a Savior (Gen 3:15).
Facts from Genesis 3
π The serpent deceives Eve, leading her to eat the forbidden fruit (Gen 3:1-6).
π Adam and Eve disobey God, bringing sin and shame into the world (Gen 3:7).
π They try to hide from God, but He calls them out (Gen 3:8-10).
π God pronounces judgment on the serpent, Eve, and Adam (Gen 3:14-19).
π Genesis 3:15 contains the first prophecy of Jesus, who would defeat Satan.
π God makes garments of skin for Adam and Eve, a symbol of His grace and foreshadowing Christ’s sacrifice (Gen 3:21).
Insights from Genesis 3
πΉ Sin always begins with doubt and deception – The serpent caused Eve to question God’s Word.
πΉ Disobedience separates us from God – Adam and Eve hid in shame instead of running to Him.
πΉ Sin brings consequences, but God’s mercy is greater – Though they were punished, God still provided for them.
πΉ God already had a redemption plan – Genesis 3:15 points to Jesus, the ultimate Savior.
πΉ We cannot cover our own sin – Adam and Eve used fig leaves, but only God’s provision (garments of skin) was sufficient.
Application – Living It Out
✔ Be aware of Satan’s lies – He still tries to deceive believers today.
✔ Trust God’s Word completely – Doubt leads to disobedience.
✔ Run to God, not from Him – When we sin, seek His forgiveness instead of hiding.
✔ Recognize sin’s consequences – Our choices affect our lives and others.
✔ Rejoice in God’s grace – Through Jesus, we are redeemed from the curse of sin.
